Robin Harmsworth is a gardener from Tunbridge Wells with a unique difference
As well as taking care of the lawns and flower beds in your garden, Robin can equally help to treat some of your own annoying aches and pains of life.
An experienced gardener with excellent horticultural training, he is also a qualified aromatherapy massage therapist and a full member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers.
This unusual way of earning a living has developed over the past two years. With the recent growth in interest in gardening and complimentary therapies, Robin saw an opportunity to combine the two skills.
He decided to set up a business offering massage and healing treatments in the client's home environment alongside his existing gardening business, Robin believes that this concept takes away the stress of travelling before and after a treatment therefore allowing the patient to feel totally relaxed.
Robin first became became interested in gardening a the age of 12 when his grandfather used to let him help in the family garden. After his grandfather died, Robin continued to care for this garden before deciding to both work and train at Hadlow College for approx. 5yrs. He then moved to London and became a garden lecturer teaching horticulture to parks staff.
After many years teaching, he decided to go back to grass roots gardening and set up his own business tending gardens in the Tunbridge Wells area .
For a long time, he tended the garden at the Centre of New Directions in Speldhurst which sparked his interest in alternative therapy and set him on a new path of learning. Over the last 6yrs he has studied remedial massage and aromatherapy and holistic upper body seated massage, as well as completing the NFSH courses and qualifying in sound therapy.
Robin explains how his two skills compliment themselves:
